Personalities
Lightning dragons are usually among the most cautious of dragon species- even more so than the wind dragons. They are quick to attack if they have the slightest suspicion of betrayal and are among the most temperamental of dragon species.
Body Structures and Evolution
Lightning dragons are unusually large and their scales crackle with electricity. In the days after a lightning storm, lightning dragons’ scales are charged with so much energy that the slightest touch can stun a fully grown dragon or kill a younger one.
The structure of lightning dragons is made to attract lightning. When one is struck they gain the power to make their own lightning, making an effective tool in battle. The scales on their backs and tails are usually around five feet long, making both efficient defensive items and things to attract lightning. Similar spikes are located on the tips of their wings and heads, although these tend to be smaller.
Homes
Lightning dragons live on plateaus or cliffy mountains. Their dens are opened at the top, and the occasional lightning storm doesn’t bother them. The bottoms of their homes are flattened, and only hatchlings have compressed caves; too much electrical energy in a small hatchling can turn disastrous.
Food
Lightning dragons are good to go on food. They draw energy from storms and if one is hit by lightning it is enough to sustain it for months. Unfortunately, in times of drought they are unable to eat real food, so the amount of lightning dragons is few.
